POSITION: Systems Administrator – Senior
LOCATION: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD
SCOPE: Serves as a Senior Systems Administrator on a major IT support contract for the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) Headquarters Information Systems Directorate (G6)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Windows Server Active Directory (AD) configuration and administration including policy management.
- Performs Windows Server systems administration including troubleshooting, monitoring, and support.
- Manages VMware environment, including systems deployment, patching, STIG/hardening and troubleshooting.
- Windows event and performance monitoring; and management of hosted systems software platforms.
- Resolves complex issues associated with system configuration management, resource sharing and basic networking troubleshooting and problem identification.
- Resolves complex security issues including identity management, records retention, and implements destruction policies.
- Uses and writes operating system commands and scripts, manages disk configurations, maintains hardware and software RAID 1-N, performs migration, backup and recovery using scripting languages, such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, and/or Perl.
- Supports performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution, administration of Microsoft Servers, building and maintaining high-availability, clustered and scalable systems, and load balancing.
- Manages production environments using automated install, automated build and deployment, automated configuration management, enterprise monitoring systems, server virtualization, load balancing, web servers, and application servers.
- Supports storage hardware and environments (i.e. Commvault).
- Works with CISCO Unified Computing System (UCS).
- Supports HBSS configuration management and troubleshooting (e.g. McAfee/Trellix).
- May lead 5 or more employees.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree in a directly related field and at least 5 years’ experience; Lower-level degrees in relevant fields will be considered with additional experience.
- Must possess a Security+CE (or equivalent DOD Directive 8570.1 IAT II).
- Must hold at least one (1) current Computing Environment (CE) certification (e.g. MCSE, MCSA, etc.) or be able to obtain one within 6 months of start.
- Five (5) plus years of experience leading five (5) or more employees.
- Expertise in Active Directory (AD) configuration and policy administration.
- Experience in VMWare systems (or VMWare alternatives) including troubleshooting and monitoring.
- Experience in resolving complex issues associated with configuration management. resource sharing and basic networking troubleshooting and problem identification.
- Experience in resolving complex security issues, identity management, records retention, and adhering to destruction policies.
- Experience using and writing operating system commands and scripts, and scripting languages, including one or more of Bash, Powershell, Python, Ruby, and/or Perl.
- Experience in TCP/IP, firewalls and routing.
- Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution.
- Experience in resource allocation and utilization for large databases, disk configuration, including the maintenance of hardware and software RAID 1-N.
- Experience in database design, data modeling and query execution, database replication, migration, backup and recovery.
- Experience performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution, building and maintaining high-availability, clustered and scalable systems.
- Experience managing a production environment with the following: automated install, automated build and deployment, automated configuration management, enterprise monitoring systems, server virtualization, load balancing, web servers, and application servers, Microsoft server operating systems and middleware, server configuration and installation, performance and network monitoring tools, operating systems upgrades and migrations.
- Experience managing or working with Windows Server and Linux Operating systems and associated configuration tools is desirable.
- Experience with Cisco UCS is a plus.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: DoD Secret Clearance
SALARY (Based on level of experience and expertise): $100K – $129K
