Caelum also has firsthand experience in fulfilling the requirements of other quality standards, specifically the Food and Drug Administration’s Quality System Regulation (21 CFR 820) through a Caelum subsidiary (divested in 2004), Deus Technologies, whose primary business was the application of image recognition algorithms, originally developed for NASA satellites, to the detection of lung cancer and other medical applications. The Deus software development process, fully compliant with the FDA’s Quality System Regulation, was equivalent to the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 3 requirements.
Currently Caelum supports the NASA Near Earth Network Services contract (NENS) as a subcontractor to Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc (HTSI). This contract provides engineering and operations, sustaining engineering, and certification and training to support NASA ground systems and simulators. Caelum is contractually obligated to follow the HTSI NENS quality system that incorporates plans, processes, and procedures fully compliant with each of the ISO 9001:2000 system requirements.
In September 2005, Caelum achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification on our Information Systems Operations and Support Services (ISOSS) contract at WSMR. This contract provides network engineering; programming; system administration; support of the Digital Data Control Facility for the Range Control Center, the Operations Control Display Facility, the Telemetry Data Center, and the Transportable Real-Time Augmentation Control Systems; non-traditional services including the precise measurement of optical media in film as well as video and digital format of range testing events, technical support services including help desk; develops, administers, manages, and converts unique databases; operates the message traffic and logistical support to the Army WSMR.
