Standing at the crossroads of science and technology, Caelum has a proven record of synergizing multidisciplinary research and development initiatives applying machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to the environmental, biomedical, engineering, chemical, and physical sciences. This modernized approach to R&D is reinforced by a strong arsenal of cloud-based, agile, and innovative information technology development services.
Caelum’s pioneering innovative work in AI/ML began in 1995 and has since resulted in 11 patents and two FDA approved commercial products. Its initial work was funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) for applying machine vision using backpropagation neural network, data fusion, decision-based pruned neural network, and convolution neural network architecture to improve the early detection of lung cancer, in radiological images. Caelum’s work in applying AI/ML to the medical sciences has significantly improved the chance of survival of lung cancer patients.
Caelum has received 15 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants and contracts to apply AI/ML technology to the research work at the Department of Homeland Security, the NIH, the US Air Force, and the Missile Defense Agency.
