DUTIES OF POSITION:

Caelum Research Corporation, located in Huntsville, AL, is currently pursuing an opportunity to provide Army staff functions, i.e., administrative, intelligence and security, plans and operations, logistics, public affairs, and resource analysis support services to the Redstone Technical Center, a part of the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) facilities located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
Leadership/Direction: The PM will provide direct leadership and oversight to several medium to large size technical support efforts (>70 total FTE) encompassing Logistics, Information Management, Operations, Environmental & Safety, and other common support services. The PM will spend 100% of their time managing the team and ensuring absolute accomplishment of the Redstone Test Center Directorate Support Services (RDSS) requirements. May supervise several other project managers. The PM must remain technically competent and be able to advise and apply technology theory to customer requirements. The PM will be directly responsible and accountable not only for the team’s performance but also for RTC RDSS contract performance. The PM will exhibit an attitude that demonstrates a full understanding of being a “relationship based business” and their actions are in consonance with those attributes generally reflected in a belief that what is good for the contract/company is good for themselves and their team and will make necessary personal contributions of time and energy to establish and maintain that relationship. Evaluates performance of project team members or project managers assigned to project.
Activities: The PM performs direct management of a large technical project or technical support effort that will likely include a diverse set of requirements coupled with multiple customer interfaces. Responsibilities include managing multiple supervisory chains that may include junior level PL’s. The PL must have ability and skills needed to interface with external support teams and customers to negotiate acceptable terms and performance metrics that accurately reflect project or service support requirements.
PM Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Make decisions which contribute to contract objectives and that positively impact the customer’s evaluation
- Ensure seamless implementation of integrated team
- Ensure that the customer adequately funds current and future IT initiatives
- Evaluate future trends and assess impacts/risks resulting in a successful plan for positioning the customer and contract
- Conduct internal and external IPR’s and PMR’s
- Be responsible for retaining and growing their current responsibility base by providing cost estimates, capability briefings and facilitating meetings between RTC RDSS leadership and potential RTC RDSS customers
- Lead special projects with contract-wide scope
- Identify and recommend solutions to the RTC RDSS leadership on current or potential project or service support issues
- Ensure contract performance goals are met
- Mentor and develop additional organizational leaders
- Develop and implement performance improvement or corrective actions in those areas where performance goals are not met
- Travel will be required
Unusual or Special Physical Requirements of Position:
- Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk in the ITSS facility (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%).
- There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.
Description of Work Environment:
Inside office environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).
Equipment and Machines Involved in Work Tasks:
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.
Criticality of Attendance:
Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (1%). Travel will be required 10% – 20%.

- Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain and retain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
