POSITION TITLE: Senior QA Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY: Quality Assurance Specialist supporting a member of a large multidisciplinary team supporting software development and data management for the Office of Science and Technology in NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Work is performed on site at the Government facility in at 1315 East-West Highway, Silver Spring, MD.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide quality assurance support within the Office of Science and Technology (OST) in accordance with its Mission. Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, support of the following:
- Design, establishment and support of a Division level quality assurance policy, including associated processes, documentation and quality controls
- Work with scientific and technical personnel and provide direction as related to quality assurance policy
- Work with Division leadership to establish and enforce quality assurance standards and best practices
- Work with Division leadership and technical staff to integrate quality assurance measures into the system development life cycle
- Creating and maintain articulate, structured technical documentation
- Research, test and recommend quality assurance tools and applications
- Work with project teams to develop project specific test scripts
- Work with project teams to develop automated test scripts
- Serve as primary QA/QC resource on projects, running automated test scripts, performing manual testing, and ensuring requirements traceability
REPORTING/INTERFACE RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to Caelum Team Lead.
- Works closely with the NMFS Federal Branch Chief and senior OST management.
- Matrixed support of and coordination with a variety of domain specialists and Stakeholders both within and external to the OST.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum B.S. in a technical field or comparable experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ QA experience..
- Must have thorough understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Must have extensive experience supporting quality assurance throughout the full SDLC for web-based, database-driven, custom application development projects
- Must be able to translate business requirements from business users and functional requirements into organized, traceable, repeatable test scripts
- Must have ability to perform and experience in performing data analyses
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills
- Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Must be creative and have the ability to understand and work with complex and abstract concepts
- Must have experience working on client-facing projects and working with end users
- Must have experience working on fast-paced projects with matrix teams
- Experience working on projects involving Oracle and Oracle ApEx technology is a plus
- Experience working on projects involving Java and JavaScript is a plus
- Must have experience with quality assurance automation
