MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • TOP SECRET security clearance

  • Experience in security posture for classified and unclassified information systems and experience working within a SIEM

  • Provide technical analysis using IA tools and applications and other applicable resources to limit cybersecurity threats to the facility network

Will provide software engineering and application development services within the department of commerce in accordance with its mission. Will serve as development lead or development team member on multiple, concurrent web-based, database-driven, custom application development projects. Will develop applications based on user requirements including user interface, database development, and middle-tier application components.

The position is remote but the candidate must be within the Washington DC Metro area for occasional in person meeting. Salary commensurate with experience.

Required Skills
10+ years of experience in application development. Must have thorough understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC). Must have experience working in client-facing projects and with end users. Must have experience working on fast-paced projects with matrix teams. Demonstrated proficiency in Java, JavaScript. Microsoft Systems Administrator

POSITION TITLE:               System Administrator – Windows

POSITION SUMMARY:   Serves as a member of a Domain Infrastructure Team supporting NOAA’s National Ocean Service (NOS) in Silver Spring, MD.  Provides Tier III support for the NOS headquarters staff as well as the International Ocean Observing System (IOOS) and National Marine Sanctuary staff.  Work is performed at the NOAA Silver Spring Metro Center complex at 1305 East West Highway, Silver Spring, MD 20910.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily support for Windows Production, and Test environments
  • Support of a highly virtualized MS Windows 2012 and 2016 server farm consisting of Windows servers, which includes operating systems support, patching (vendor provided updates) and third-party software maintenance
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software complex problems and taking appropriate corrective action and/or interacting with IT staff or vendors in performing dynamic testing, support and troubleshooting functions with very little to no supervision.
  • Performing complex computing environment buildouts, installation, maintenance and support with emphasis on documentation of operating procedures and processes
  • Provide support the application infrastructure that runs on the Windows servers
  • Provide support for Active Directory
  • Provide Tier III level support for client-side issues
  • Support, follow and demonstrate compliance with NOAA policies and procedures

System Administrator (Mac)

POSITION TITLE: Systems Administrator (Mac)

POSITION SUMMARY: Lead Systems Mac Administrator and technical resource for NOAA’s National Ocean Service (NOS) Mac based systems, including configuration management, architecture and troubleshooting. NOS staff uses approximately 100 Mac OS 10 work stations in the Silver Spring headquarters and in field offices around the country. Part of the infrastructure team which supports and manages systems under the purview of the NOS Associate CIO located in Silver Spring, MD.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Configuration management and execution for NOS Mac systems in support of upgrades, patches and enhancements, including third party applications.
• Supports governance requirements including participation in Change Control Board meetings and NOS Mac Configuration Management Team (CMT).
• Plans, designs, develops, tests, edits, maintains, and documents MacOS baselines
• Tier II/III support for field personnel charged with Mac support.
• Root cause analysis and resolution,
• Plans, Designs, develops, tests, edits, maintains, documents, scripts, and custom applications.
• Also participates in projects and requirements associated on non Mac (Window and Linux) systems as needed and appropriate.
• Configuration and maintenance of a Digital Video Asset Management System based on Mac OS X technology

REPORTING/INTERFACE RELATIONSHIPS:
• Reports to the IT Operations Manager or Contract Program Manager
• Works closely with the other members of the IT Infrastructure Team
• Works with and supports Mac users and junior administrators in Silver Spring and across the country.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Expert level knowledge of and at least 4 year’s experience with Mac OS
• Experience with MacOS deployment strategies
• Experience and expertise with the following tools:
o Apple Remote Desktop (ARD)
o Jamf Pro
• Experience with Centrify
• Hands on scripting skills using bash or python
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in managing systems in an Active Directory Environment
