General Summary:

Caelum Research Corporation is seeking an experienced Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO), responsible for determining and implementing enterprise information security standards. Develops and implements information security standards and procedures. Ensures that all information systems are functional and secure.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be familiar with the DoD standards – guiding the development of IA policy, requirements, engineering and certification and accreditation
  • Able to translate security policies and requirements into an IA configuration implementation and application requirements
  • Interpret RMF controls accurately with regard to system security posture, policy updates and configuration of information systems
  • Capable of performing network and host vulnerability scans and document results in relation to residual risk identification
  • Must be familiar with network vulnerability scanners (ex. Retina, Harris STAT, DISA Gold Disk, etc.)
  • Must be familiar with patch management software and intrusion detection (ex. WSUS, HBSS, Altiris, etc)
  • Must complete incident handling processes and analyze data from scans. The candidate will implement and enforce security policies across the organization
  • The IASO will be responsible for securing Microsoft operating systems as needed
  • The IASO is responsible for other duties as assigned

Database Programmer/Specialist

Database Programmer/Specialist

General Summary

The Database Programmer/Specialist is responsible of maintaining and updating existing Enterprise System application programs. The position utilizes MS Access, Visual Basic, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript, and programmatic manipulation of Microsoft office products. CompTIA Security+ and MCSA or higher certification is required with demonstrated proficiency in Windows operating systems. Maintains database by identifying and resolving issues using MySQL while supporting Enterprise system users. Activities shall include database management, development, troubleshooting, data manipulation, and data analysis performance tuning, incremental software updates, backup and recovery, archiving, control of access permissions and privileges, data security, monitoring disk usage and database performance, reviewing database system logs, problem resolutions, and IAVA compliant patching.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with identifying, isolating and resolving Enterprise System problems to avoid a prolonged system downtime impacts to user community
  • Provide day-to-day activities required to maintain the operational integrity of the Enterprise system’s databases
  • Support an Enterprise system application in the production and test environment
  • Design, write, modify, update, and support programming for an Enterprise application processing database and other databases as requested. This includes programming for the online application website, data transfer to internal databases, and processing of all elements of application data
  • Installs revised or new systems and coordinating installation requirements
  • Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products
  • Work with the Help Desk to provide timely ticket resolutions for issues affecting existing production systems in order to maintain service level agreements
  • Flexibility in work schedule, to include some weekend work for IAVA patching maintenance

Job Specifications:

  • Proficiency with Active Directory, NetApp Storage Systems and VMWare is a plus
  • Proficiency with IBM servers, IBM operating system and monitoring, enterprise system backup, virus protection, and patch management is a plus
  • Knowledge in the following areas a plus: Citrix and related support systems; SolarWinds, load balancing, network software protocols, software development life cycle

POSITION SCOPE:

Senior Scientific software developer and team lead in support of NOAA’s Algorithm Scientific Software Integration and System Transition Team (ASSISTT). Senior Systems Administrator

POSITION SCOPE:

This position serves as the senior systems administrator and team lead in support of a heterogeneous technical environment that supports scientists, researchers, and analysts at NOAA’s Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR) at NOAA’s Center for Weather and Climate Predictions in College Park, Maryland. Caelum’s STAR team possesses an infrastructure that includes both physical and virtual servers running CentOS (primarily), Red Hat, Open BSD, and Solaris. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Senior Systems Administrator for STAR mission network supporting RedHat/CentOS development environments.
  • Administer, monitor and maintain all Linux servers including unboxing, provisioning, baseline configuration, ongoing configuration management, patching, and de-provisioning.
  • Compile and install development tools for programmers.
  • Perform Tier 2-3 helpdesk support for Linux system.

  • Multi-disciplined in any of the following Standard Army Management Information Systems and Enterprise-level Programs is a plus: AESIP, GCSS-Army, LMP, GFEBS, SARSS, SAMS-E, PBUS-E, ULLS A (E).

Technology:

  • Maintain skill sets in the hardware/software being used to accomplish customer tasks
  • Employment of centralized data management for cleansing, validation, analysis, and migration.
  • Utilization of metrics to measure performance and progress
  • Maintain an awareness of trends that may either positively or negatively affect the customer
  • Exhibit a wide range of technical knowledge including database, application development, project management, scheduling, etc.
  • Must have functional working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Training:

  • Army Logistics Workshops/IPTs in support of various pre-migration activities (as required based on assigned projects and customer related tasks)
  • Information Assurance and other DOD requirements
  • Technology Conferences
  • Functional conferences/forums designed to promote customer capability

Travel:

  • Travel may be required, not expected to exceed 10%

Leadership/Direction:

  • A BA 2 works under the direction of management and team leads.
  • A BA 2 will be intimately familiar with a business process and partner closely with a customer lead and the user community.
  • A BA 2 may lead some smaller analysis efforts but generally takes direction from a more senior level.

Activities:

  • A BA 2 will perform the same activities as a BA 1 but also be able to more rapidly obtain an in-depth knowledge of customer hardware, software products and/or business procedures and have a broader experience and knowledge base. Some additional activities a BA 2 may perform are:
  • Documenting information on the quantity, condition, location, and ownership of material in use, in storage, in process, and in transit logistics planning and execution processes.
  • Identify and document the detail customer process requirements, hardware, software, physical, and support requirements necessary to establish the baseline for identifying functional and technical process improvements across the project.
  • Analyze problems and provide a written report to the customer with a recommended course of action.
  • Benchmark existing business processes
  • Begin with a simple streamlined process, assuming no administrative, organizational or system barriers activities are initiated and develop a detailed analysis
  • Design the conversion of an existing database configuration into a relational database environment, apply standard principles, theories, and concepts to solve problems of moderate or diverse scope.
